Christine Wu

Hi, I’m Christine! I joined the GKT organization during my freshman year of high school, and since then, this group has provided me with many eye-opening experiences. At first, I was reluctant to join, but looking back, I realize that not only have I learned new things about myself, but I’ve also gained a deeper understanding of the community around me.

Every month, I have the pleasure of sharing happiness, music, culture, art, passion, friendship, and so much more with the seniors we visit and my peers in the organization. Many seniors in the homes we volunteer at face difficulties such as limited mobility, confinement to their environment, and feelings of isolation. While we may not be able to make the most profound changes in their lives, spending holidays with them, performing for them, and playing games together brings me joy. Knowing that they look forward to seeing us and that we have the ability to brighten their days is incredibly fulfilling.

GKT has truly taught me what it means to give back to my community. This organization has helped me develop values that I apply in my daily life, strengthened my communication skills, built my confidence in performing, and shown me how to take the first steps in creating change. For that, I am forever grateful, and I hope to continue serving the community around me.
