GKT Young Volunteers Bring Joy to Baybrook Village Care and Rehab Center

On March 8, 2025, GKT young volunteers visited the elderly at Baybrook Village Care and Rehab Center. Ruiheng Yan, Tiffany and Samuel served as the young leaders of the volunteer group. We organized performances by children and a group origami activity with the elderly. The wonderful activities brought joy and appreciation to the residents, while the interactive and educational origami session provided care and companionship.

Being a leader is indeed a challenging job—whether it is organizing activities, arranging performances, or handling post-event cleanup and coordination, careful planning was essential.

Through this experience, we learned how to create a registration page, design a performance program, coordinate the sequence and introductions of participants, and communicate with the elderly during group activities. We were deeply moved by the dedication of our members, who had put great effort into their performances. From graceful dances to melodious singing, everyone showcased their unique talents with sincerity and passion. Leading this event also allowed us to develop valuable leadership skills.

During the group activity, we guided the elderly in making various origami crafts. These activities helped enhance their hands-on abilities, and our members eagerly assisted in creating beautiful origami pieces. We hope these creations carry the love of children and bring warmth and companionship to the elderly.

There are always challenges in leadership, but we hope to continue improving and becoming more skilled in guiding and organizing future events.
